East Wenatchee’s Canyon B Bridge inspection set for Wednesday, April 9,

Traffic slowdowns expected in the morning

EAST WENATCHEE — The Canyon B Bridge on Eastmont Ave between Sunset Highway and N. Baker Ave/Fancher Field Road will be undergoing an inspection by Douglas County personnel on Wednesday, April 9, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Inspectors will be on and under the bridge during the procedure, and traffic will be impacted during those hours. However, flaggers will be present to control traffic so that the bridge need not close.

Drivers in zones with flaggers and maintenance and inspection crews should remember to reduce their speed across the bridge, drive with caution near workers, and to of course plan accordingly for commutes during that time.

East Wenatchee’s north end has undergone a number of projects, including the ongoing road construction on 19th Street NW and the soil drilling along Sunset Highway that’s part of the planning stages for the SR28 East Wenatchee Corridor Project between 9th Street and Hadley Street. The Corridor Project begins with the addition of new access bridges  to the Clark Pipeline Bridge for the Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail.

That project includes widening car lanes from two to four and adding bike lanes and a non-mountable curb median to restrict left turns only to chosen access points, much like the work that was done along Wenatchee Avenue and Maiden Lane on the Wenatchee side of the river.

The bridge inspection is a part of normal maintenance, however, and will not be an ongoing project. Any further updates on upcoming work or changes in schedule for existing work can be found at https://www.douglascountywa.net/.
