CHELAN – Both Brad Hawkins and Flint Hartwig look to advance to the general election on November 5 in the race for Chelan County Commissioner District 3.

Hawkins leads by a majority with 62.77% of votes or 2,701 ballots cast in his favor. Hartwig trails with 627 votes or 14.57% of votes.

"I'm very grateful for the support of the District 3 voters," Hawkins said. "People have been very encouraging since I announced my run for County Commissioner, and I'm so glad it has translated so positively in the vote count. I really appreciate it."

The August 6 primary narrowed the field of contenders down from four to the top two. The general election will include all Chelan County voters.

Hawkins has served as a state senator since 2017 but announced in the spring that he intends to shift his focus closer to home and run for the commissioner seat being vacated by Chelan's Tiffany Gering.

Hawkins added, "I'm so thankful for the strong support that I received in this primary, and I'll be working hard to earn every vote I can in Chelan County as we look ahead to November's election."
