LEAVENWORTH — The City of Leavenworth will host a community workshop focused on wildfire preparedness next week, bringing together multiple agencies to help residents prepare for the upcoming fire season.
The workshop, scheduled for Wednesday, April 9, at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, will feature presentations from regional fire and emergency management experts.
Representatives from Chelan County Fire District No. 3, Chelan County Emergency Management Services, the United States Forest Service, Cascadia Conservation District, and Cascadia Prescribed Burn Association will lead sessions covering critical wildfire safety topics.
The United States Forest Service will conduct a presentation on "Preparedness and Fuels Reduction," focusing on community-wide wildfire readiness and mitigation efforts. Chelan County Fire District No. 3 will address "Homeowner Preparedness & Home Hardening," providing practical property protection strategies and updates on the Chelan County Community Wildfire Preparedness Plan.
Additionally, Chelan County Emergency Management Services will detail the county's Everbridge communications system, designed to keep residents informed during emergencies, and discuss evacuation protocols and refuge areas.
City officials are encouraging all area residents to attend the informational event to learn more about becoming "Firewise" and preparing for wildfire season. For those unable to attend in person, the workshop will be recorded.
