WENATCHEE — A 49-year-old Wenatchee man was arrested Monday after allegedly assaulting another individual with an axe and damaging a vehicle, according to the Chelan County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to a reported assault in the 100 block of Chapman Road, Wenatchee, at approximately 4:13 a.m. on April 7. According to authorities, the reporting party stated that a male had assaulted his friend with an axe and broken a car window with the weapon.
Upon arrival, deputies located the victim who had sustained injuries to his left hand and right ear. Through their investigation, authorities identified the suspect as Shawn Breshears of Wenatchee.
After establishing probable cause for arrest, deputies discovered Breshears had fled to a residence in the 10 block of Chapman Road. Law enforcement personnel surrounded the location and attempted to call Breshears out.
Deputies obtained a search warrant for both Breshears and the residence. They subsequently opened the door and deployed a drone inside the home to locate the suspect. The drone identified Breshears walking within the residence, and after continued attempts to call him out, he eventually exited and was taken into custody.
Breshears was booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center on charges of second-degree assault under RCW 9A.36.021, third-degree malicious mischief under RCW 9A.48.090 for damaging a windshield, and resisting arrest under RCW 9A.76.040.
The victim received treatment for his injuries.
"Chelan County Sheriff's Deputies exhibited sound tactics, utilizing time, distance, shielding and available resources and tools to bring this violent incident to a successful conclusion," the sheriff's office stated in their release.
